There’s a new normal in town and its name is Cannabis.

Our aim is to make the cannabis buying experience disarming, compassionate and human. We’re calling bullshit on the stigma. Mother Earth put this good plant here with purpose—let us introduce you to a few of them.

We were publicans first, by virtue of two decades experience in hospitality as Donnelly Group, running public houses, cocktail clubs and barbershops. Our DNA is rich with an affinity for culture, relentless pursuit of great products and warm service attitude. We’ve summoned our passion for these things to energize into this modern retail brand.

For these reasons and others, people roll with us.

Cannabis 101

WTF are THC & CBD?

Well, science is now here to save the day. These two super common abbreviations stand for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), two of cannabis’ main active compounds. The first is the psychoactive part of the plant and the other is most certainly not. THC is the one that produces those “high” effects – sometimes stilating, other times relaxing. While CBD eases anxiety and promotes relaxation without any psychoactive effects. It is also commonly used to treated various medical conditions.

Sativa and Indica, and Hybrids oh my?

We’ll take you on a journey that leads to a greener road than the Wizard of OZ. Strains are generally categorized with one of three terms; Indica, Sativa and  Hybrid. To generalize: Indicas produce a heavier sense of high, with a more sedative “couch lock” effect. Sativas often contribute to an uplifting feeling, leading to creativity and socialization. Hybrids represent a majority of the stains we see on the market today, which come from a cross between the groups.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are responsible for the amazing aromas that plants produce including cannabis. They play a key role in contributing to our cannabis experience. The more we dive into this new universe, the easier it will be to find the perfect combination for yourself.

What are some main terpenes?

Myrcene: An exhale of a musky and earthy scent, followed by a trickling effect of sedation, it is actually a muscle relaxant. Found mainly in mango, thyme and lemongrass.

Pinene: Exuding a lovely pine scent driving you in the direction of creativity, euphoria and alertness. Commonly found in pine, parsley, basil and rosemary.

Limonene: That citrusy scent you just can’t get enough of. Known to help with stress relief and to elevate your mood. Found in citrus fruits and peppermint.

Linalool: A sweet floral derived scent. Easing you into a calming and relaxed state. Typically found in Lavender and Rosewood.

Caryophyllene: A scent indulging in wood and spice. Known to help relax you at the end of your long day so you can kick back and get that rest you really need. Found in pepper and clove.

What kind of ID do I need to show?

As per provincial law, all customers must display two pieces of valid ID and be of legal drinking age to enter our age-gated stores. Make sure you have one government-issued “primary ID,” such as a driver’s license or passport, and one “secondary ID” that displays your name and signature or picture, like a credit or debit card.

Do I need a prescription to buy cannabis?

No, you do not need a prescription to purchase any of our products. In fact, as a “Recreational” store, we’re restricted from giving any sort of medical advice. Any and all of-age persons are free to purchase up to 30 grams of cannabis products a day from our stores. Come one come all.

Can I bring my child in with me?

Sorry this is a no, we’re only permitted to allow of-age people into our stores.

How much cannabis can I purchase?

You are legally able to purchase up to 30 grams of dried cannabis or the equivalent in extracts, seeds, edibles or topicals.

I don’t want to smoke cannabis, are there other options?

There is no end in sight for those looking for a different cannabis experience; from ingestible oils and capsules to edibles such as gummies or chocolates there are many great options for consumption with more landing on our shelves weekly.

Why is the product I want not available anymore?

Demand and supply hasn’t entirely worked itself out yet in this new market. Good news is, because it’s a constant battle our sales associates are pretty sharp in recommending great alternatives to that hot product you had your heart set on.

Can I travel with cannabis I’ve purchased at your store?

Travelling with cannabis is something we’ve all been waiting for and is way simpler than we think. Laws permit you to travel within Canada with the legal limit of 30gr of cannabis or the equivalent in edible and oil products.

What weights do you sell cannabis in?

Our dried flower most often comes in 1, 3.5, and 7 gram formats. Sometimes we get our hands on 14 and 28 gram packages. Many other consumption formats have a ‘weight equivalency’ often measured by the milligram content of THC/CBD.

How do I know how cannabis will affect me?

Humans and plants both share similar chemical compounds called cannabinoids, produced through our Endocannabinoid system. This is thought to control how we feel and react, as everyone is so different our personal experiences will be also. Determining factors to keep in mind are genetics, mental health, usage, method of consumption, mood and daily activities.

Do you carry hemp products?

Each and every product that we carry comes directly from the cannabis plant. This means that you will always find a trace of THC in everything that you purchase.

What’s a good dose of CBD to start taking?

CBD is something that gradually builds in your system over time, meaning that you won’t notice the effects right away. For some people it can take up to 2 months before they begin to feel the benefits of CBD. Because of that, it’s something that you need to take consistently as well. A recommended dose for a beginner is anywhere around the 5-10mg range depending on the individual.
